INFORMATION WORKSHOP ON FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT(FDI) SURVEY

In order to understand the concepts of FDI and to facilitate in filling the survey questionnaire form, an information Workshop on Foreign Direct Investment Survey for Year 2023 was conducted at the head office of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, on 3rd March 2024.At the event, Daw Tin Aye Han, Deputy Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration delivered the opening speech and the responsible staff of the Planning and Statistics Division explained the concepts, definitions and methodologies of FDIS data compilation and previous experiences. Furthermore, Financial Experts of the Zeya & Associates Co., Ltd. demonstrated how to fill the data in the Survey Questionnaire Forms.The workshop will be conducted from 3rd April to 4th April 2024 and about 170 participants (General Managers, Financial Controllers, Chief Accountants and Accountants) from 90 foreign companies which are registered at DICA attended at the two-day workshop.The data compilation of the FDI survey will be accumulated both from the previous participated (150) companies and altogether (250) FDI companies will be collected in May 2024 and the Survey result will be published in June 2024.

Field Inspection of Magway Region Investment Monitoring Team

Magway Region Investment Monitoring Team conducted a field inspection on the manufacturing of value added sesame, bean and peanut for 100 % export at Magway Township, Magway Region on 6th November, 2024. The team met representatives of the company and coordinated the requirements of the project.

COMPANY REGISTRATION

Registration is the first step a businessperson will be required to take before incorporating a company or making an investment in Myanmar, whether that person is a citizen of Myanmar or a foreigner. In accordance with the Myanmar Companies Law 2017, a company may be registered in one of the following forms:

  • As a private OR public company by Myanmar citizens
  • As a foreign company OR branch of a foreign company
  • As a joint venture company
  • As an association/nonprofit organization

INVESTMENT APPLICATION

The Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) is responsible for verifying and approving investment proposals and regularly issues notifications about sector-specific developments. The MIC is comprised of representatives and experts from government ministries, departments and governmental and non-governmental bodies.


PROCESS
Use the DICA website to retrieve information on requirements for your MIC permit application.
First, investors must first submit a proposal to the Myanmar Investment Commission.
If the proposal meets the criteria, it will be accepted within 15 days.
If accepted, the MIC will review the proposal and reach a decision within 60 days.
